Stefania has created this blog as part of the International Journalism course she has been attending during her last year at Kingston University.

ECOsta Rica Blog's idea started from the current debate around the issue of climate change. It is a contemporary topic in the media, but we always hear the Western side of the story: how industrialised countries are failing to change their habits and how poor countries are sufferings from the effects of the climate crisis. But what we never hear is that some small countries have already started a big revolution and are already a few steps ahead of rich nations.

ECOsta Rica Blog wants to challenge the idea that wealthy countries have to be an example for the poorest nations in changing wrong environmental behaviours. This blog is aimed to all those people, especially from the Northern Hemisphere, interested in how to tackle the climate crisis and with the humility to learn from a small developing country like Costa Rica.

The blog is divided in three sections:

Features and blog posts will be published with the purpose of informing other countries about Costa Rica and what the country is doing to tackle the climate crisis. In this section you can find out more about the politics, green policies and new goals of the country towards the environment.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS

This section is dedicated to all the projects, networks and organisations in Costa Rica which concretely do something for the environment. Here you can find interviews with organisers and coordinators in the form of multimedia (podcasts and videos).

This section simply collects recent articles from national and international publications about the measures Costa Rica is taking to protect, maintain and fight for the planet.
